Discover the LUX-top®. Fall-through protection.
Skylight domes, continuous rooflights and SHEV systems are standard features in modern industrial and administrative buildings. They provide daylight, ventilation and energy efficiency. However, they also pose an increased risk of falling – especially when working on flat and industrial roofs. With the LUX-top® DLP fall-through protection we offer a reliable solution to permanently minimize this risk.
The system effectively protects people from falling through open or non-fall-through-proof ventilation elements – without any intervention in the existing roof structure. Perfectly suited for existing properties and new buildings on concrete, trapezoidal steel profiles, steel and timber constructions and many other load-bearing substructures.
The LUX-top® DLP is tested in accordance with GS-BAU-18 – the authoritative standard for testing fall-through safety on components during maintenance and servicing work. This means that our LUX-top® DLP like all our products, meets the highest requirements in terms of material, workmanship and function and offers tested protection when working on the roof.
The system is installed completely from below. It is not necessary to open or drill into the upstand or the continuous rooflight frame. This means that the functionality of the lighting element is fully retained – as is the manufacturer’s warranty. This reliably prevents leaks, damage or subsequent refurbishment of the dome. Leaks in the skylight dome glazing or upstand are reliably avoided when installing the DLP, especially as it is installed on the underside of the supporting structure (e.g. trapezoidal profile).
Whether trapezoidal steel profiles, solid concrete ceilings, steel structures or load-bearing timber structures: The LUX-top® DLP is suitable for almost all common substructures for industrial or industrial or commercial roof constructions.
With a DLP element, skylight domes measuring up to 3 × 3 m can be easily secured. The modular design also allows several elements to be combined, e.g. for continuous rooflights, without losing stability or safety. This means that any number of DLP modules can be connected to each other lengthwise in the case of continuous rooflights.
The materials used – stainless steel for the net and aluminum for the frame – are corrosion-resistant and weatherproof. This means that the fall-through protection system remains functional even after many years, even when exposed to strong UV radiation or other influences – without the need for extensive maintenance.
Thanks to its slim frame construction and transparent mesh structure, the LUX-top® DLP has a discreet and unobtrusive appearance. This is particularly advantageous for exposed ceilings or light-flooded areas where aesthetic requirements play a role.
With around 94 % light transmission and approx. 95 % air permeability, the natural lighting and ventilation inside the building remains largely unchanged. The function of the skylight dome is therefore not impaired – a clear advantage over full-surface covers or rigid grid solutions.
The close-meshed stainless steel mesh of the fall-through protection system also has a positive effect against unauthorized entry into the building. Although it does not replace a classic burglary protection system, it offers additional resistance against forced entry via the roof – a valuable addition to building security.
A decisive advantage of the LUX-top® DLP is that it can be installed entirely from below. This means: no drilling holes in the dome, no opening of the roof glazing, no risk of leaks. This solution is ideal for existing buildings in particular, as it hardly disrupts ongoing operations.
Installation is carried out using dimensionally stable aluminum frames that are connected directly to the load-bearing substrate. Due to the installation on the underside of the supporting structure, the DLP can also be larger than the skylight opening and can therefore be installed without having to measure to the millimeter beforehand. This means that all common skylight dome sizes are covered with just a few standard DLP sizes.
The fall-through protection can be used with almost all common types of skylight domes – both single domes and continuous rooflights:
DLP offers maximum safety, especially for roofs that are frequently accessed (e.g. for all maintenance, servicing and care work). Our contacts will be happy to help you choose the right solution for your building.
The LUX-top® DLP fall-through protection system is one of the proven products
from LUX-top®which stand for quality, durability and safety.
The LUX-top® DLP complies with all applicable regulations on fall protection:
The LUX-top® DLP is maintenance-free, but should be visually inspected regularly – especially after work on the roof. Each fall-through protection system is permanently marked. This facilitates as-built documentation and supports internal inspection processes.
A major advantage for existing roofs: the fall-through protection system can be retrofitted without opening the roof. The system can be easily added to flat roofs with older domes in particular, where there is no factory-fitted fall-through protection – and will provide reliable protection in future.
Especially for flat roofs with a load-bearing substrate (concrete, wood, steel profile, trapezoidal profiles) – ideal for industry and trade.
Due to the light transmission of approx. 94 %, there is no significant restriction of light incidence.
Up to 3 × 3 m as standard, several individual DLP modules can be coupled together lengthwise for continuous rows
The fall-through protection system offers additional resistance against forced entry.

No, the DLP is mounted below the supporting structure (e.g. on the bottom chord of the trapezoidal profile) and may therefore be larger than the skylight dome opening. A rough measurement is therefore usually sufficient.
As it is mounted below the supporting structure, the net is usually outside of the push rods or other opening mechanisms. Thanks to an air permeability of 95%, the ventilation cross-section is only affected to a small extent.
The fall-through protection is part of the comprehensive LUX-top® portfolio for fall protection. Complementary products:
